NTT America, a wholly owned US subsidiary of NTT Communications, said that it has enhanced its portfolio of managed storage and recovery services with upgraded network attached storage (NAS) service.

According to NTT America, the NAS offering combines storage technology from Hitachi Data Systems with its management to deliver cost-effective storage infrastructure.

In addition, NAS service also enables organisations to gain the advantages of storage infrastructure without the capital expenditure required for an in-house offering. It offers the scalability required to accommodate changing storage requirements and to plan for business continuity, the company claims.

Based on the Hitachi NAS Platform, the NAS service is a storage infrastructure that incorporates components such as redundant fibre-channel switches, network switches and storage arrays. Data security is assured by multiple measures, including data isolation, authentication and added Layer 2/3 network security, the company said.

Doug McMaster, vice president of products and solutions at NTT America, said: “We are excited to offer an upgraded NAS solution based on the Hitachi Data Systems NAS platform. We are seeing a growing number of customers in the Web 2.0 business space, and most of them are experiencing exponential growth in their unstructured data.

“We are pleased that our turnkey solutions are able to accommodate their growing storage needs be they measured in gigabytes or terabytes of storage capacity.”
