Sun Microsystems announced a new addition to its existing Sun Unified Storage family. The new Sun Storage 7310 is a Flash-powered storage system that leverages Hybrid Storage Pool capabilities to deliver analytic insight.

The 7310 reportedly handles rapid data growth and facilitates customers’ storage needs. It offers cluster option to support high availability application environments for continuous data access; Hybrid Storage Pool support; DTrace Analytics software –  standard across the entire Sun Storage 7000 family; three times less power consumption than traditional storage solutions and scalability up from 12TB to 96TB capacity.

Sun claims that its new product will also offer high network throughput with four 1Gb Ethernet ports per controller & optional 10Gb connectivity and Sun Unified Storage Data Migration services.

The Sun Storage 7310 starts at a price of $40,165.
