Networking equipment supplier Netgear has announced the expansion of its family of ReadyNAS products for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) by adding a new network storage system, ReadyNAS 3200.

According to Netgear, the ReadyNAS 3200 is a 2U 12-bay unified storage platform that provides up to 24 terabytes of storage. It supports server virtualisation, file sharing, disk-based backup and iSCSI SANs.

The new system includes Continuous Data Protection (CDP) software and the ReadyNAS remote drag-and-drop remote file sharing utility for remote site data management. It also embeds ReadyNAS Vault, an optional cloud-based backup and disaster recovery service.

The ReadyNAS 3200 also combines the features of the other ReadyNAS for business products, including the ReadyNAS 2100 1U rack-mount, the ReadyNAS Pro and NVX desktop systems.

Netgear said that its new product leverages the ReadyNAS RAIDiator operating system. The RAIDiator OS supports the Apple Filing Protocol which enables native Mac files to be used without restrictions or limitations. It also offers support for file services (NAS) and application services (iSCSI) for Windows, UNIX/Linux and Mac systems.

The ReadyNAS 3200 is expected to come with 6TB, 12TB and 24TB of storage capacity and the price for the basic configuration starts at $4,999.
