Microsoft tag teams with Jasper to boost global IoT

Azure IoT suite and Control Center platform will allow businesses to market quicker and scale globally in the IoT space.

By Joao Lima

Seeking an exponential worldwide growth of IoT services, the two companies today formed a technology integration partnership.

The venture combines Jasper’s Control Center platform with Microsoft’s Azure IoT suite to help businesses get full insight into their IoT solutions.

Macario Namie, VP Strategy at Jasper, told CBR: "We believe these are two leading platforms that help enterprises achieve their goals getting to market quicker, scaling globally and doing this in a cost effective way.

"We are doing a joint development to take all of the information that is coming from Control Center. Azure IoT is accepting all of the data from the devices, the telematics data, and other data.

"Jasper brings to the table the controlled information, the communication information and the status of the devices as they go through the different stages of their lifecycle."

The suite also manages, analyses and presents device data as usable information to help businesses make better decisions, while also intelligently automating operations.

In IoT, there is a very large evolving complex ecosystem and lots of vendors are building applications or capabilities on top of Jasper’s stack, according to Namie.

Namie said that a company of smart vending machines for example, with solutions where customers can make their own drinks and syrups, will be able to create new tailored products.

He added: "IoT helps them to better understand the preferences of their customers but when they start to see frequently used combination of syrups, then they can say: ‘maybe we can create a new product’.

"[Some customers] use Jasper today to deliver and manage these services across all their remote vending machines and they are also an Azure customer. They use Azure not only to develop the applications but also to monetise the applications.

"In this case, they will be able to use the integrated solution [from Jasper and Microsoft] to bring together these two systems of record and unify them into a single experience."

Sam George, Director of Azure IoT, said: "By bringing together the Jasper Platform and the Azure IoT Suite, businesses of any size and in any industry can build cost effective IoT solutions for themselves or their customers."
