Microsoft revamps SkyDrive with new selective sync, easy sharing features

The new selective sync feature allows users to sync specific folders across different devices

By CBR Staff Writer

Microsoft has upgraded its SkyDrive cloud service with a new selective sync feature that allows users choose and sync specific folders across different devices.

According to the company, SkyDrive selective sync is useful in a situation where users don’t want a large folder to sync to their own laptop.

The new sync feature enables users to set SkyDrive to sync important documents with their tablet while keeping the user’s large photo folders remain there.

In addition, Microsoft has also integrated SkyDrive with right-click contextual menus for faster and easier file sharing from the desktop.

The company has also upgraded the SkyDrive app for Windows Phone 8 with enhanced performance and visual updates to make it look better on the company’s new mobile operating system.

With the new upgraded Windows Phone 8 app, users can now search for files and control photo uploads and download sizes.

In addition, Android users are also provided with new features, including the ability to upload all file types from an SD card, allow them to rename their SkyDrive files and folders and create custom sort orders for every view.
