Microsoft has announced a new function available for its Hyper-V Recovery Manager which will enable companies to deploy automated backup straight to Microsoft Azure.
Hyper-V Recovery Manager was furthermore renamed to a very simple ‘Microsoft Azure Site Recovery’.
Microsoft said: "Azure Site Recovery can help you protect important applications by coordinating the replication and recovery of private clouds across sites, whether you’re protecting dozens – or hundreds of virtual machines. You can protect your applications to your own second site, a hoster’s site, or even use Azure as your disaster recovery site (preview) and avoid the expense and complexity of building and managing your own secondary location."
Site Recovery claims to monitor the state of System Centre Virtual Machine Manager clouds continuously and remotely from Azure.
"Virtual machines can be brought up in an orchestrated fashion to help restore service quickly, even for complex multi-tier workloads. Recovery plans are simple to create through the Azure management portal, where they are stored."
