Microsoft and Klout team up for social search and influence

Bing and Klout create partnership to expand social discovery across their platforms.

By Tineka Smith

Bing search has become even more social since it introduced the social side bar earlier this year.

Klout scores and influential topics will now be surfaced on Bing. Microsoft says the Klout profiles surfaced in search will allow users to understand who has the best insight in certain area of expertise.

Klout and Bing

"As part of Klout’s recently unveiled moments feature, we’ll begin surfacing Bing highlights on some Klout user’s profiles, demonstrating how search can be a powerful new indicator of online influence," said Bing in a blog post.

Along with investing in Klout, Microsoft also has a multi-year partnership with the company. This will include Bing surfacing Klout scores and influential topics in the "People you know" section on the social sidebar.

As part of the new partnership will Bing will also be providing additional data to Klout.

Klout will incorporate Bing’s search data into a user’s social influence score.

"Like Microsoft, Klout is a friend to all social networks," said Klout. "We both want to help everyone discover relevant people regardless of the specific networks on which they’re active. And we believe we’ve only just begun to tap into the knowledge and insights "search through people" will enable, now and into the future."
