McAfee introduces security for MySQL database community

Free open-source audit plug-in for MySQL offers complete visiblity into the security posture of every database in the environment

By CBR Staff Writer

McAfee has released new free open-source audit plug-in for MySQL database users to capture complete picture of activity audits from their databases.

The security technology company has created and developed the new plug-in as part of a new set of features for its database security application.

New open-source audit plug-in is a non-intrusive application and helps small and medium-sized businesses as well as larger enterprises satisfy audit requirements.

McAfee’s new release will enable organisations to protect their databases, by offering complete visibility into the security posture of every database in the environment and will provide protection for databases from malicious activity across all threat vectors.

The free open-source audit plug-in does not require any changes to the existing database and network architecture and also delivers compliance without downtime through McAfee virtual patching for databases.

McAfee Database Security Product Management vice-president Dan Sarel said the company has developed the free database audit plug-in to give the community of MySQL users a means of building enterprise-level database security around their databases.

"When coupled with the McAfee Database Activity Monitoring sensor for MySQL, the data is subject to the same real-time analysis and policy enforcement as the data collected from other supported databases," said Sarel.
