MariaDB steps in to field LeadDesk’s calls

Open source database secures 20 terabytes of data and supports four million calls per week.

By James Nunns

MariaDB is expanding its customer base with LeadDesk, providing the company with database and cloud solutions.

The Finnish call centre software provider LeadDesk, handles over four million calls and 100,000 orders on its platform.

Built on the LAMP technology stack, this solution could not match the growth the company was experiencing so it sought a new solution to increase the performance of its multi-tenant database environment.

MariaDB will provide greater flexibility and scalability through sharding by utilising MaxScale plugins. The open source cloud technology will aim to provide greater flexibility and will protect the data.

MaxScale, is a proxy which works by splitting database operations from the application layer, this means that database changes can be made without the need to take applications offline.

Olli Nokso-Koivisto, CEO, LeadDesk said: "MariaDB’s solution, support and services enable us to stay focused on our core business. With MariaDB MaxScale, there is no technical limit for scalability through sharding, and we were able to deploy quickly without having to modify our applications."
