LTech has launched the LTech Google Docs Backup, a new downloadable tool for backup, archiving and management of Google Docs.

According to LTech, the new tool allows Google Apps users to download documents, spreadsheets and presentations into folders in a local directory or other locally attached storage. This is useful for archiving and providing administrators with access to content for compliance requirements or when local network connectivity is unavailable.

Reportedly, the new tool keeps the Google Docs folder structure intact to allow IT administrators to backup a single user or an entire Google Apps domain and export documents in multiple formats, including all standard Microsoft Office products.

LTech Google Docs Backup currently supports Microsoft Windows 2000 or higher. Users also have the option to configure the backup tool using the command line application or the graphic interface.

Ed Laczynski, founder and president of LTech, said: As more of our enterprise customers utilise Google Docs for improved collaboration, we saw the need for a simple, easy-to-use tool that would meet the growing need for backup and archiving on local storage. Now, with LTech Google Docs Backup, on-premise backup capabilities add further value to Google Docs and make the platform more attractive to IT administrators.
