LenovoEMC has revved its LifeLine operating system (OS), LifeLine 4.0, for its Iomega-branded network storage applications.

LenovoEMC is a joint venture established in December 2012 between Lenovo and EMC that includes the Iomega network storage product business.

The OS is claimed to be optimised for enterprise computing and comes with enhanced security features for storing, sharing and protecting of data for organisations and work groups.

Features of the OS include Snapshots, SSD Caching (Cache Pools), IVX (Integrated Vitalisation Technology), NFS v4, Active Directory Hybrid Authentication, Active Directory High Availability, iSCSI Security, the ability to work with 4TB HDDs and Twonky Media Server version 7.

LenovoEMC president and general manager Eric Arcese said, "Businesses today need rock solid, dependable, affordable and innovative network storage, and this new version of LifeLine brings those attributes together with an intuitive menu of choices that can be tailored to the needs of any organisation."

"LenovoEMC LifeLine 4.0 improves upon our previous version of LifeLine, bringing advanced computing options and capabilities to our network storage products that organizations of all sizes can benefit from," Arcese said.

The company will release LifeLine 4.0 in the next week and it can be downloaded by the owners of StorCenter ix and px series network storage products.

In addition, the company is expected to introduce its network storage devices with LifeLine 4.0 OS in May.
