Jaspersoft has announced upgrade to the Business Intelligence Suite Community and Professional Editions. The new release includes advanced charting and visualization capabilities that supplement the dynamic dashboards and interactive Web 2.0 interfaces introduced earlier in 2008.
According to the company, the new release includes new built-in chart types, the ability to create and apply chart themes to customize the detailed appearance of charts, and easy integration with third-party visualization engines. Together these new capabilities deliver a richer experience for the display and visualization of data.
The company has said that developers are expected to use the new chart theme capability available in Jaspersoft version 3.1 to change the overall appearance of built-in charts without having to write chart customizers or use a set of chart properties.
By using a single property setting it is expected to be possible to change the look and feel of all built-in chart types contained in existing and new reports. This feature makes use of the new custom component support, and is particularly valuable for many developers and independent software vendors, who have embedded Jaspersoft in their applications, said Jaspersoft.
Brian Gentile, CEO of Jaspersoft, said: As business intelligence (BI) spreads more pervasively across organizations, the need to provide more graphical means for interacting with and representing data is clear. Today’s generation of knowledge worker, informed by the capabilities of the internet and Web 2.0 user environments, expects no less.
