All-flash enterprise storage company, Pure Storage, has expanded its flagship FlashArray 400 Series product line with new entry-level and high-capacity arrays and the next generation release of its Purity Operating Environment, Purity 4.0.
The new software features FlashRecover – a set of fully integrated, space-efficient replication, snapshot and policy management services that offer comprehensive protection against disaster and data loss, both locally and globally. With these advancements, Pure Storage FlashArrays are said to more fully support mission-critical workloads and Tier 1 storage use cases, eliminating the need for enterprises to continue making investments in legacy storage solutions powered by mechanical disk.
Tim Stammers, senior analyst at 451 Research, said: "To keep pace with rapidly evolving infrastructure requirements, enterprises are now looking for greater scalability, simplicity and efficiency from their storage solutions than ever before.
"It’s a value proposition that all-flash array solutions, such as the Pure Storage FlashArray, are well positioned to deliver, especially if they can offer lower cost of acquisition and reduce total cost of ownership."
Pure Storage believes it was first company to successfully deliver an all-flash enterprise storage array for less than the cost of legacy performance disk solutions. With the expansion of its FlashArray 400 Series product line and new feature-rich Purity 4.0 software, the company claims it offers the most comprehensive, tested and mature AFA product lineup available to the market, setting a new industry standard for storage performance, scalability, security and efficiency, with a 10x improvement over disk-centric solutions in every dimension.
Scott Dietzen, CEO at Pure Storage, said: "This is a watershed moment for Pure and the AFA category in general. With the FlashArray 450 and Purity 4.0, we are delivering feature parity with incumbent high-end disk arrays. Going forward, no one should deploy performance disk for database or virtualised applications – no one!
"FlashArray costs less, and yet delivers 10X or better performance, power and space utilisation, reliability, and simplicity of operations. The OpEx savings alone vs. traditional disk arrays allows our FlashArray to pay for itself in its first 3-4 years in the data center, and will still have years of productive service to deliver after traditional mechanical storage has been written off."
