Open source database management company Ingres has signed a strategic agreement with Pentaho, an open source business intelligence (BI) provider, to boost the latter company’s products by Ingres VectorWise Database.

Under the agreement, both the companies will certify their respective products with each other, specifically, the Pentaho BI Suite and Ingres VectorWise Database.

Pentaho said that with its Agile BI initiative, it has eliminated the complexity and confusion associated with traditional BI technologies, allowing more users to participate in BI project development.

The company collapses the analytic data supply chain by reducing the number of development steps before results can be visualised.

The firm said that this improves the collaboration between developers and end users and accelerating time to value.

Pentaho founder and CEO Richard Daley said the new joint offering provides quick queries which enable companies to make decisions at the speed of thought.

"By combining the power of the Ingres VectorWise lightning fast analytic database with our full BI suite, customers can shrink their time to value even as their data sets grow," Daley said.
