IceWEB, a provider of unified data storage and building blocks for cloud storage networks, said that it is shipping version 3.0 of its Storage System’s platform with all upgraded functionality included in the base level system.

The new offering includes (Zettabyte File System) ZFS-based in-line deduplication in the base price of the system. Customers can now reduce their use of primary storage complimented with bidirectional replication and compression, the company claims.

According to IceWEB, 3.0 Virtual Machine Datacentre (VMDC) option supports VMware, Citrix Xen and Hyper-V virtualisation platforms from a single point in a unified environment. Storage admins can see their entire virtual environment, provision storage, backup, VM cloning, replicate and set retention policies all from a point and click interface.

The company said that the new offering allows users to set up an unlimited number of snapshots and has included indexing and Boolean search features, which enable the management of these snapshots. The 3.0 search storage allows administrators to find content within the files that they need to access. It also includes snapshot rollback to all earlier versions transparently.

Michael Blackburn, storage system technologist at IceWEB, said: “3.0 filled in a lot of the missing pieces that our customers have been asking for right out of the box. We have made our platform simple to use, advanced the features of legacy systems and we are doing at a price that won’t break the budget. We took into account what our partners were asking for in terms of unifying corporate storage platforms without the EMC price tag.”
