IBM’s new service to move enterprise apps to cloud

The company has also opened a new centre in Barcelona, Spain

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM has launched cloud-based service in five continents called Called IBM SmartCloud Enterprise, to help clients move enterprise applications to the cloud.

The company has also opened a new centre in Spain to host SAP applications and other core operations in the cloud.

The new services allow clients to use cloud computing for enterprise applications while expanding online access and investing in innovative analytics, social business and mobile computing at low cost, IBM said.

IBM SmartCloud Services general manager Jim Comfort said that the company’s clients want sophisticated, economical cloud-based services that provide the same quality and service level as a private, hosted IT environment. "With that assurance, they can focus more on driving business value from their data and operations, and less on managing their IT," Comfort added.

The new IBM SmartCloud Enterprise+ (SCE+) is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud service that allows users to access their core applications for ERP, CRM, analytics, social business and mobile computing from the cloud.

IBM’s SmartCloud for SAP Applications is Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and is developed for the SAP Business Suite software and the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio.

The company has also launched the IBM Migration Services for SmartCloud Enterprise+ using which the clients can migrate to cloud more quickly with lower cost, it’s claimed.
