HP has introduced new virtualisation offerings that include enhancements to its StorageWorks and client virtualisation portfolios that allow transition from a physical to a virtualised environment.

Bob Meyer, worldwide solution manager for virtualisation at HP, said: “Customers are continuously looking for new ways to simplify the deployment of virtualisation while reducing the administrative costs and complexities associated with the transition process. HP offers a comprehensive range of solutions that allow customers to address their virtualisation needs from the desktop to the data centre.”

HP said that it is working with Citrix to provide storage automation and integration within virtualised environments. HP is a charter member of Citrix Ready Open Storage Programme.

HP also said that it is expanding the collaboration and decided to support Citrix Essentials with StorageLink technology to allow customers to optimise their HP storage capabilities. With StorageLink, virtual server and desktop environments are expected to be managed simultaneously with storage environments through a single administrator.

According to the company, the new version of HP Image Manager Operating System streaming software is suitable for organisations that are beginning their transition to virtualisation, or for non-technical user deployments such as in education environments.

HP Image Manager reportedly ensures that the client software is stored on the server and is always available unmodified and uncorrupted. The Image Manager is now available for use with its t5735 Thin Client as well as with other clients.
