HP Enterprise Services has introduced virtualised storage service (VSS), a new storage management capability that helps clients organise and manage digitised data.
HP claimed that the new storage management capability can save clients up to 30% in costs by maximising utilisation and moving appropriate data to less expensive storage tiers.
The new VSS manages data and improves efficiency through thin provisioning that taps unused storage space within a network and creates a pool that each storage instance can use.
The offering also improves efficiency through data tiering that helps clients eliminate downtime and efficiently store data by allowing them to move data based on its priority from one tier to another without an outage.
The company said that the advanced capabilities of VSS can also accessed via its data centre facilities or in-house systems with its Enterprise Services remote service capacities.
HP Enterprise Services director for Storage Services Jeff Moyer said that the new VSS is uniquely positioned to bring storage flexibility and elasticity to a client’s infrastructure by allowing storage to be continually optimised as the business value of aging data changes over time.
