HP has unveiled a series of enhancements to its MSA Storage platform including firmware upgrades to increase application performance.

Targeted at smaller sites, the range offers faster flash with HP saying the new firmware enhancements for MSA 2040 Storage will speed up applications by about 45% without adding any cost to the customers.

The move will optimise SSDs in hybrid storage configurations and increase performance by about 37,000 IOPS through a free, non-disruptive upgrade.

HP is introducing new hybrid flash MSA 2040 bundles to help new customers accelerate business initiatives and access the higher performing systems.

The bundles are aggressively priced, saving customers up to 45%, including the MSA 2040 Performance Tiering license.

With a lower starting price of $13,300, the bundles can speed up sales velocity for HP channel partners by reducing quote and pricing approval times.

HP has also unveiled more flexible connectivity options for customers who plan to install shared storage in order to support application high availability without the cost of storage networking infrastructure.

The new HP MSA 1040 SAS array supports 6Gb/12Gb SAS direct host connections. It enables up to four application servers to be directly linked creating a fully redundant shared pool of capacity, which can scale up to 384TB.

The move makes deployments to smaller sites less costly without the need for SAN switching infrastructure.

HP Storage senior vice president and general manager Manish Goel said: "In the idea economy, time is everything. The smaller the business, the more this is magnified.

"HP is committed to bringing high-impact technologies like flash to smaller customers at incredibly affordable prices – and we are doing it on proven platforms like MSA to give them the power to accelerate their business growth with confidence in their IT infrastructure."
