HP has updated its Vertica analytics platform, designed to help users gain more insight into big data analytics.
Version 7 of Vertica is integrated with the HP Vertica Flex Zone, allowing users to load and analyse semi-structured data more efficiently, according to the company.
The solution offers auto-schematisation as an alternative to "coding-intensive schemas" that have to be defined before the data is loaded, as well as "one-click" schema capabilities, allowing for schemas to be applied for analytics.
HP said analysts and data scientist among other business users should be able to explore and visualise data without waiting for IT organisations to use "lengthy and expensive extraction and transformation tools."
Colin Mahony, VP and general manager at Vertica, HP, said: "Everyone is seeking to gain insight from new forms of data, but legacy products waste resources because of the need to wrestle the data into structured formats,"
"The new capabilities of the HP Vertica Analytics Platform deliver immediate value and rapidly ‘shine a light’ on formerly dark data — unlocking the value hidden in both traditional and emerging forms of big data."
