Designed to ease the transition to an all-flash infrastructure, Hitachi Data Systems has introduced a new and expanded line-up of all-flash and hybrid flash arrays.

The new additions to Hitachi’s flash portfolio include the all-flash Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) F Series, enhanced models of the Hitachi VSP G series, next-gen Hitachi flash modules with inline data compression (FMD DC2) and enhanced Hitachi Automation Director and Data Center Analytics tools.

Claiming to be the industry’s most resilient all-flash array, the VSP F series combines all-flash storage, built-in automation software and Hitachi VSP technology. Included in the family is the VSP F400, F600 and F800, all of which offer 1.4M IOPS and < 1ms latency even at maximum scale.

Providing a 100% data availability guarantee, the F series ranges in effective storage capacity from 12.8TB up to 448TB and offers optional synchronous and asynchronous replication for complete data protection.

The VSP F series leverages the new FMD DC2 (flash modules) to provide inline, a feature which has also been extended to the enhanced VSP G series. The VSP G series now boasts improved response times, effective flash capacity and return on investment.

The FMD DC2 has been designed with a parallelised architecture that delivers up to five times more write IOPS and three times more read IOPS than standard solid state drives (SSDs).

It also includes robust multi-queuing technology that allows IO to be prioritised over background operations for superior low latency, even under heavy load.

Hitachi has complemented the flash products with the introduction of new and enhanced software.

The Hitachi Automation Director Software allows users to self-service provision flash storage to speed application deployment, while the new Hitachi Data Center Analytics enables users to strategically position their flash investments across multi-vendor hardware environments. Monitoring and analysis at scale helps resolve performance issues and enable capacity planning.
