Emulex has introduced its latest Fibre Channel technology designed to deliver improved latency, bandwidth and reliability.

The LPe 16004 Fibre Channel HBA, the LPe16202 and the LPe15004 low-profile Fibre Channel HB are part of the Emulex Gen 5 Fibre Channel product family.

The new adapters can be deployed as either host initiators or storage targets and include a quad-port adapter that provides up to 2.4 millionI/O operations per second.

Emulex said the rise of Flash storage systems is creating a need for IOPs and that its adapters now provide the best dollar per I/O ratio in the industry.

Shaun Walsh, VP of marketing and corporate development at Emulex, said: "Our new quad-port Gen 5 FC HBA is the only HBA in the market that provides up to 2.4 million I/O operations per second (IOPS) and four ports of full Gen 5 FC (16GFC) performance on a single HBA, driving mission critical virtualisation, database, and storage target workloads.

"In addition, our new dual-port CFA enables data centres, service providers, and specialised appliances to run FC one day and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) the next without disruption. This is critical in multi-tenant environments because it enables adapter standardisation for data centres that run both FC and FCoE SANs simultaneously, which streamlines deployment, reduces cost and overhead inventory."

Other features enable increased virtual machine ratio, application virtualisation and support for larger database applications.
