EMC, a provider of information infrastructure offerings, has unveiled new versions of CLARiiON and Celerra midrange storage platforms.

The company said that its Unisphere management software, which is integrated with VMware vCentre, allows storage administrators to perform common tasks with 90% fewer clicks.

Unisphere, and VMware vCenter Server integration and VAAI, provides integrated experience for managing both CLARiiON and Celerra storage systems in physical and virtual environments to perform tuning for application workloads.

EMC said that the customers will benefit from new FCoE support built into CLARiiON and Celerra unified storage systems for a complete Ethernet storage offering.

The company is also developing capabilities like FAST (fully automated storage tiering) suite, FAST cache and block data compression, which optimises use of SATA drives and SSDs to deliver efficient performance at low cost with the availability of new 100GB and 200GB SSDs.

EMC unified storage division SVP Mark Sorenson said that the new enhanced capabilities like EMC FAST and EMC FAST Cache enable customers to leverage new drive innovations for performance, scalability, and cost effectiveness that’s unmatched in the marketplace.
