DynamicOps enhances VRM software with NetApp FlexClone technology

Claims to reduce storage capacity required for virtual desktops by up to 50%

By CBR Staff Writer

DynamicOps, a provider of automated IT service management software, has enhanced its Virtual Resource Manager (VRM) software with NetApp FlexClone technology, which it claims to reduce desktop provisioning times and associated storage costs.

The company said that the new version of VRM is combined with NetApp module that leverages the FlexClone technology of NetApp arrays that are based on the NetApp Data ONTAP operating system, including the IBM N series and N series Gateways.

The company claims that the new offering reduces the storage capacity needed for virtual desktops by as much as 50%, by eliminating performance problems associated with multiple systems booting simultaneously and by providing an integrated operations management console for administrators and desktop support.

With the FlexClone technology, VRM provisions virtual desktops in an automated, space-efficient manner and reduces the operational cost of maintaining and supporting a large virtual infrastructure, DynamicOps claims.

Richard Krueger, CEO of DynamicOps, said: By using the power of the NetApp technology and integrating it into a single console that automates and simplifies the day-to-day management, enterprises can now confidently scale their virtual desktop environments quickly and efficiently using robust data centre technologies that have passed the test of time.
