Dell has launched a new suite of products and services designed specifically for small and medium businesses, including servers, network attached storage device and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).
The new portfolio includes four 11th generation Dell PowerEdge servers; Lifecycle Controller 1.2 embedded systems management; the PowerVault NX300 network attached storage (NAS) device; Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and ProConsult services to help businesses achieve IT efficiency.
According to Dell, the new servers consist of two tower servers PowerEdge T110 and T310, and two rack servers R210 and R510, equipped with the new Intel Xeon 3400 series processor to run business workloads with the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system. The company claims the T110 to be the first server for small businesses, with a desktop sized chassis and combination of security and basic systems management for system monitoring.
The PowerEdge R210 is a rack server for a small business with space constraints or can be used as a specialised application server for larger firms. It has 5.5-inch chassis depth, low wattage power supply, and requires less energy footprint. The R210 is 88% more energy efficient than the previous generation and the PowerEdge T310 is 65% more energy efficient than its predecessor, the company said.
Dell’s PowerVault NX300 is an entry-level Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2008 NAS product that offers the capability to store up to 4TB of data in a single device while allowing additional NX300 arrays to be deployed. It includes single-instant storage deduplication technology to maximise capacity.
Dell Uninterruptible Power Supplies come equipped with rugged chassis, metal hard drive carriers and components which are expected to withstand all IT environments and help reduce downtime. It has unveiled 28 new UPS products, which offer remote monitoring through Dell’s OpenManage management console and include downloadable flash upgrades and UPS management software.
The company said that its services are specifically designed for small and medium businesses looking to cost effectively plan, deploy and manage growing IT environments. The new PowerEdge T110, T310, R210 and R510 servers’ prices start from $599. The PowerVault NX300 and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) are expected to be available in October with starting prices of $3,000 and $269, respectively.
