Dell World product avalanche: 5 sectors Dell is targeting

List: New products focus on data centres, big data, the IoT, security and Dell’s core market of PCs.

1. Data centres

Data centre products announced at the show included the first Dell-branded data centre scalable solutions for service providers, telecom providers and web customers.

The company launched high-end Dell Storage arrays at an "industry-leading" cost-per-gigabyte. Dell alsounveiled Dell Data Protection, a Rapid Recovery launch providing cloud back-up, and the Dell XC Series with Dell’s densest and first all-flash hyper-converged appliances for large workloads.

In addition, Dell announced the ProDeploy Enterprise Suite of deployment services and the Application Modernization Portfolio, providing comprehensive and customisable application modernisation services.

2. Big data and analytics

Dell expanded its big data portfolio with a new end-to-end analytics solution called Statistica 13, with an enhanced user experience and tighter integration with other products.

Industry-specific solutions launched include fraud, waste and abuse management products for medicine, denial likelihood scoring and predictive analytics to determine which claims are likely to be denied, and a service to determine which customers an organisation is most likely to lose.

Dell also launched Service Desk Analytics to help IT service desks to predict error management by offering early warning alerts and text analytics. Dell ModelHealth Tracker was also launched, helping customers to track the effectiveness of their predictive analytics models. It is designed for industries with compliance requirements.

3. Internet of Things

Dell launched the Edge Gateway 5000 Series (pictured), a purpose-built gateway for the building and factory automation sectors. Combined with the launch of Statistica 13, original equipment manufacturers can build it into the solution to provide analytics and control over IoT devices.

The product is designed to be able to function in extreme environments, including high and low temperatures.

 

4. PCs

Dell released a new portfolio of OptiPlex business PCs, with upgraded features including better power consumption, better memory and storage capabilities and better performance. This includes the 7040, the 5040, the 3040, the 7440 and the 3240.

The IT giant also launched the new Wyse 5050 AIO zero client, providing security and performance in VMware environments, as well as new printing solutions offering one-stop access to cloud-based services. This includes new H-Series printers, models H625cdw, H825cdw, and H815dw and S-series printers including the S2825cdn and S2815dn.

Dell also announced that Dell Services is now a systems integrator for Usablenet.

 

5. Security

Dell’s new range of security solutions include the SonicWALL APT Protection Solution, integrated management of Dell Networking X-Series switches through the Dell SonicWALL firewall interface and the addition of Cyren anti-virus signatures to Dell’s SonicWALL Email Security.

Dell One Identity Cloud Access Manager 8.1 brings SaaS-based, multi-factor authentication via Defender as a Service.

Three new solutions were announced by Dell Data Security: Cloud Edition 2.0, Server Encryption and Endpoint Recovery to protect data wherever it goes.

Finally, Dell AEGIS was introduced by Dell Services, allowing enterprises to identify and assess mission-critical application vulnerabilities, while Dell SecureWorks announced general availability of its Emergency Cyber Incident Response capability.
