Data Storage (DSC), a provider of electronic data storage and protection offerings, has acquired SafeData, a technology company that helps businesses protect their data, minimise downtime and recover and restore data.

By acquiring SafeData, DSC expands its current offerings which include data backup and recovery, digital archiving, virtual hosting and standby data recovery, e-discovery, email archiving and hosted exchange to the IBM iSeries market leveraging SafeData’s data recovery and telecom recovery offerings.

DSC said that SafeData will operate as its division, remaining in Warwick, and continuing to serve its existing clients with its SafeData/HA, SafeData/DR and SafeData/TR products. Peter Briggs will continue as president of the SafeData unit and will hold the position of executive vice president with DSC. Larry Putterman, chairman of SafeData will serve on the DSC board of directors.
