Colt, a provider of business communications and IT managed services, is partnering with EMC, a provider of information infrastructure offerings, to deliver Managed Storage offering and related services for medium to enterprise-sized organisations.

The company claims that the Managed Storage allows companies across Europe to scale IT resources in line with business demand, freeing-up internal resources, streamlining business processes and facilitating new ways of working.

Colt said that it will offer customers Managed Storage as a service, which will include a combination of shared and dedicated storage or bespoke service offerings delivered through its data centres. As part of its portfolio of ‘Infrastructure as a Service’ services, the company will incorporate EMC’s managed storage services including, on-site residency services, remote managed services and storage managed services.

The company said that the partnership will allow it to leverage EMC’s EMEA-wide pre-sales support teams to build customer proposals and create service-designs according to customer requests; ensure its sales and technical teams are certified on EMC’s offerings and technology; and enables both the companies to work together to develop a joint professional services capability in EMEA.

Adrian McDonald, senior vice president of EMC UK & Ireland, said: "This partnership with Colt brings together EMC’s storage expertise and Colt’s first-class secure hosting and management capabilities.

"It will enable customers across Europe to choose a managed storage approach while still reaping the benefits of EMC’s industry-leading technology. As this will all be a managed service, with stringent SLAs, customers will rest safe in the knowledge that their data is secure – leaving them to get on with what they do best: doing business."
