CloudPassage introduces GhostPorts to access cloud servers

GhostPorts uses simple hardware device to secure console access, says the company

By CBR Staff Writer

Cloud server security company CloudPassage has introduced GhostPorts, a feature of security and compliance platform, purpose-built for elastic cloud environments Halo Professional, the secure way to control access to administrative services on cloud servers.

To provide tight access control to network services, the GhostPorts uses dynamic, time-based host firewall rules with single or two-factor authentication.

Halo GhostPorts from CloudPassage uses a hardware device that adds another layer of control to secure console access and provides authenticated users with temporary access to sensitive network services.

The GhostPorts delivers a strong control of network access to any cloud server; convenient, multi-factor user authentication and dynamic access control and fulfills compliance requirements for multiple security standards, the company said.

In addition, the GhostPorts imposes high isolation of sensitive services in dynamic cloud environments and unlocks the cloud benefits for business units and enterprises.

The Halo GhostPorts built for elastic public and hybrid cloud environments, works on any cloud provider or hosting model and are used for fast and easy deployment and single or two-factor authentication.

CloudPassage cloud security architect Chris Brenton said securing remote access to sensitive functions like administrative consoles, database services, and data transfer facilities is very problematic with a mobile workforce.

"Without a solution capable of handling dynamic client and server IP addresses, many companies leave network access to these functions open to the world and exposed to a range of exploits," Brenton said.
