Server, desktop virtualisation, networking, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and cloud computing technology firm Citrix has extended its partnership with storage, data management applications provider NetApp to accelerate the adoption of enterprise cloud deployments.
Under the expanded collaboration, the companies will provide an integrated cloud orchestration and storage application that claimed to address storage automation, resource allocation, and virtual machine backup and recovery.
NetApp said the collobration will help in simplifying cloud storage deployment for the companies’ mutual customers and to deliver faster migration to private and hybrid clouds.
The product integrations with NetApp storage will enable Citrix CloudPlatform to discover and incorporate NetApp storage as primary and secondary storage.
In addition, the collaboration between the two companies will combine NetApp unified storage applications and Data ONTAP, with both Citrix CloudPlatform and the Apache CloudStack project.
This combination will provide users with a cloud-ready storage environment that will optimise storage utilisation, simplify maintenance and accelerate the transition to an improved data infrastructure.
NetApp OnCommand Unified Manager supports Citrix CloudPlatform and Apache CloudStack to automate the provisioning and administration of storage service applications within the product’s self-service portal.
The NetApp plug-in for XenCenter empowers Citrix administrators to provision, deduplicate, resize, and delete storage repositories on NetApp storage.
In VDI deployments, NetApp VSC for Citrix XenServer allows for cloning tens of thousands of VMs almost instantaneously with NetApp FlexClone technology.
