Business Objects does on-demand BI

Users can bring together SAP and non-SAP data

By Jason Stamper

Business Objects, the SAP-owned business intelligence applications provider, has bolstered its BI OnDemand software to speed the process by which users can first build and then run analytics on cloud-based data warehouses.

A new content creation and development utility lets an administrator channel data from applications hosted either on-demand or on-site quickly to business users.

The vendor said it would let BI OnDemand users bring their SAP and non-SAP data together to provide any business user with access to all data they need.

The addition of a new accelerator for Salesforce CRM will also mean a data warehouse could be primed with massive amounts of data sucked from the saleforce automation programme, to reduce the time it takes to prepare information for users who want to mine sales data, run reports, or carry out analytics process.

Many companies complain of having limited visibility into their sales pipeline. Business Objects reckons the arrival of the accelerator not only helps save time, but should help the BI administrators keep pace with the constant demand for new types of content.

SAP’s on-demand line-up is shaping up slowly and now includes CRM OnDemand for large enterprises, the Business ByDesign mid-market ERP suite, as well as the on-demand offerings that came to it with its acquisition of Business Objects.

The CCDE and Accelerator for Salesforce are free enhancements to the BI OnDemand service.
