Buffalo rolls out USB 3.0 external hard drive

Includes Memeo backup package to automatically manage and backup files in real-time

By CBR Staff Writer

Buffalo Technology has released DriveStation HD-HXU3 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 external hard drive, which it claims to deliver transfer rates of up to 625MB per second (or five Gbits/s).

The company said that the new hard drive is backward-compatible and works with all USB 2.0 enabled computers and notebooks, and forthcoming USB 3.0 models.

In conjunction with the new SuperSpeed USB DriveStation, the company also has released a two-port USB 3.0 PCI Express Interface Card IFC-PCIE2U3, which allows users to upgrade PC or Mac to utilise SuperSpeed USB for faster data transfer speeds.

Included with DriveStation USB 3.0 HD-HXU3 storage device is Memeo’s backup package that helps users to automatically manage and backup files in real-time. It will find any new or updated file automatically, copying them to the drive, the company said.
