Bristol City Council has reduced its costs by 60% and increased operational efficiency by 15% after implementing ASG’s operations management platform.

The Council selected ASG’s systems to provide tape management and console automation for their operating infrastructure, via ASG-Zara and ASG-Zack. The Council recorded the cost reduction over a five year period while the 15% increase in operational efficiency was recorded over the last year.

ASG-Zara is an online media management system that the firm says can secure, audit and monitor IT data in an OS/390 environment, while providing real-time access to tape management data. ASG-Zack is said to monitor all console activity and events continuously.

The new systems will be used by the Council’s 2,500 operational support staff who use the mainframe system for financial management. Bristol City Council serves 400,000 residents.

ASG provides business service management (BSM) tools to a number of international companies, such as Air France, HSBC and Lockheed Martin. Competitors in the BSM space include IBM, OpTier and BMC.
