Blink Logic, a provider of Software as a Service (SaaS) business intelligence (BI) applications, has added a fully integrated Microsoft Excel plug-in to its platform expanding their reporting and analytical tools.
Blink Logic said that the Microsoft Excel plug-in supplements its existing business intelligence application. Excel users can combine its functionality with the company’s dashboards, analytics, and reporting capabilities.
Reportedly, users can pull data directly from the database or from OLAP cubes, allowing them to use the capabilities of OLAP cubes such as pre-calculated measures. In addition, users can also upload third party spreadsheets to the dashboard to save and share with others.
David Morris, president and CEO of Blink Logic, said: “While customers are delighted with the analytical and visualisation tools that Blink Logic offers, there are some users that are just more comfortable with a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. About 90% of our customers are business managers who use our platform to slice and dice data, drill down for a deeper look and can do so with current product features but there are still about 10% of users that just want to use Excel.
“The new plug-in was developed for them. We have the data in the database, we have the pre-calculated measures, now we can give them access to the information in the format that they want it in. And we give it to them in a collaborative environment so they can share with their peers.”
