Arkeia Software, a provider of backup and disaster recovery software, has released its Network Backup version 8.1, which it claims to offer features that simplify backup management of hosted platforms, including multi-tenant servers.
According to Arkeia, the new version features Custom Restore Objects (CROs) that allow system administrators to assign restoration rights to end users. Service to the end user is also improved by allowing end users to recover data at any time.
In addition, the new version also increases visibility into backup status with both pre-configured reports and tools for custom report generation. Reports can be viewed through the web graphical user interface or delivered through e-mail, command line, or export-to-file. The reporting infrastructure allows reports to be integrated into customer dashboards, the company said.
Arkeia said that the new version supports AIX 6, Fedora 11, NetBSD 5.0, OpenBSD 4.5, Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and Microsoft Windows 7. It protects data on many platforms, including virtually all Linux and Windows platforms, and AIX, BSD, HP-UX, Irix, Macintosh, Netware, Solaris, and Vmware.
Bill Evans, CEO of Arkeia, said: Hosting companies deploy Arkeia Network Backup to protect both their own data and their customers’. Now, as hosting companies deliver cloud computing infrastructure, they need new capabilities for backup and recovery.
“With Version 8.1, Arkeia Network Backup makes it easier for hosting companies to provide profitable backup services to customers on dedicated, managed, and shared hosting platforms.
