Actuate launches new Platform as a Service offering

Includes configurable dashboards and interactivity, mobility, analytics and user capabilities

By CBR Staff Writer

Actuate (ACTU) has unveiled the BIRT onDemand, a Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering based upon its BIRT iServer.

The BIRT onDemand platform leverages the power of BIRT’s flexibility and extensibility within a cloud infrastructure to provide plug-and-play platform for BIRT-based BI applications.

It also includes capabilities such as interactivity, mobility, analytics and user configurable dashboards, combined with a host of apps from the BIRT-Exchange Marketplace.

The company said that BIRT onDemand will serve subscribers from financial institutions, airlines, manufacturers, telecommunications companies and government agencies.

BIRT onDemand also offers built-in mobile access with the ability to deploy existing BIRT content to the iPhone, iPad and Blackberry.

The key features of BIRT onDemand include: interactive reports, flash visualisations and reports saved as PowerPoint, Excel, PDF and Word; dashboards with BIRT Mashboard, supporting creation of information portals with BIRT and non-BIRT content; and mobile-ready content delivered to iPhone, iPad and Blackberry devices for hosted BIRT apps.
