3PAR, a provider of utility storage, has opened its first sales and customer service office in India and has named Arvind Khurana as country manager, in a move to meet growing demand for technologies to support cloud computing, the virtual datacentre, green IT initiatives, and enhanced infrastructure agility.

The increased commitment to the Indian market is part of 3PAR’s growth strategy in the entire Asia Pacific region, which the company views as critical to its business agenda.

According to 3PAR, many of its global customers such as Credit Suisse, Savvis, and Verizon have stated plans to expand their presence in these markets and consolidate their businesses in countries throughout the region.

Based in Delhi, Mr Khurana will be responsible for overall sales execution for 3PAR in the country. He was formerly country sales manager for Collabnet Software. At Collabnet, Mr Khurana formed and led the company’s sales organisation and forged strategic relationships with enterprise software vendors and some of India’s largest systems integration and consulting firms.

David Scott, president and CEO of 3PAR, said: Designed from the ground up to deliver transformative levels of simplicity, agility, and efficiency for virtualised environments, we believe that 3PAR Utility Storage is the ideal platform to help Indian IT organisations address the unique demands of their virtual and cloud deployments while keeping down the capital, operating, and environmental costs of storing and managing their data.
