Yahoo has entered into a partnership with Zynga to integrate online social games through its global network, as part of its effort to offer personally relevant experiences to users from across the web.
Zynga games, which are expected to roll out on the Yahoo! network in the coming months, will include the ability for users to play Zynga games and access their personal Zynga game updates across Yahoo’s properties including the Homepage, Yahoo! Games, Yahoo! Mail, Messenger and others.
In addition, the partnership enables users to share updates across multiple social experiences simultaneously while playing their favourite Zynga games on Yahoo!; and third-party developers to develop applications on Yahoo! through product integration of Zynga games with the Yahoo! Application Platform (YAP), OpenSocial container.
This partnership along with Yahoo!’s recently announced Facebook and Twitter relationships will extend its social strategy by providing multiple places across Yahoo for people to play social games, access and share information, and connect with others.
Zynga’s games include FarmVille, Treasure Isle, Zynga Poker, Mafia Wars, YoVille, Cafe World, FishVille and PetVille.
Hilary Schneider, executive vice president of Yahoo Americas, said: “Yahoo is focused on providing compelling, personally relevant experiences and social games are core to this experience.
“Zynga will bring top notch social game experiences to Yahoo!, including through our open platforms such as Yahoo Application Platform and Updates. Yahoo! will also continue to work with other partners, developers and publishers to bring compelling innovations and experiences from across the web to our users.”
