Yahoo chief executive Carol Bartz has planned a major reorganization as early as next week, according to AllThingsDigital, a blog affiliated with the Wall Street Journal.
The report said Bartz sent a memo to employees last week telling them to get well-rested, because next week’s a biggie.
It was also suggested Bartz may abandon the recent restructuring to split the world into four operating regions, and instead have one executive each for the US and rest of the world. The company’s European, Asian, and emerging markets divisions would be consolidated under one chief.
The report suggested chief technology officer, Aristotle Balogh, would expand his role to take charge of product strategy and management in addition to product technology. It said Hilary Schneider, in charge of advertising, publishing, and audience groups in the US, would head North America.
The report also said Bartz has initiated searches for a number of high-level executives, including a search for chief marketing officer and other senior leaders. It said she also plans to streamline the company’s ranks of vice presidents and senior vice presidents.
Last December the company announced plans to cut more than 1,500 jobs, 10% of its global workforce, to cut costs annually by more than $400m.
