Volta partners with colo start-up to offer bespoke cloud support

Companies join forces to support London start-ups and media enterprises.

By Joao Lima

Volta Data Centres has announced a new collaboration with start-up EX Networks to deliver flexible, reliable and fast connectivity to companies looking to move IT support from in-house to the cloud.

The venture was said to be ideal for media firms and start-ups across London that will be looking for flexibility to expand in the future.

EX Networks will also provide infrastructure and maintenance services to any other company across the world that require a technical presence in the capital.

Deployed at central Great Sutton Street, the company will give its clients a team of data centre engineers, managed racks and end-to-end solutions within the Volta Data Centre.

The Volta and EX Networks partnership will enable a different location to Docklands-based centres, as more companies look to move old equipment out of their offices and free up space by using colocation sites.

Volta’s high power availability and connectivity offering attracted EX Networks to enter the partnership.

The enterprise is said to be in talks with several potential customers aiming to move their systems to the data centre.

Jon Arnold, Managing Director at Volta Data Centres, said: "EX Networks is a fast growing bespoke hosting company, so we see it as a great fit to be working with them. Moving to the cloud is a business critical decision for many SMEs.

"These cloud services require a physical infrastructure: a safe and secure environment from which the business critical servers and hard drives that contain the applications and data can operate. They require fast, uninterrupted data connections, a totally secure and reliable power supply and buildings that offer the highest possible levels of security, something that Volta can offer EX Networks’ clients."

Volkan Dil, Managing Director for EX Networks, said: "Working with Volta, for us, was a no-brainer.

"Our customers, many of whom are from outside the UK, need a hands on approach to their London data centre needs and want to work with a company they can trust. We went on a tour of Volta and were completely blown away. There are not many centres that rival it in central London in terms of overall spec and resiliency.

"Working with Volta means that we have a London city site that we can expand into. Being able to provide our customers with high level power density, the flexibility to expand and an excellent level of technical and customer service support, was a priority for us. The Volta team is an extension of the EX Networks’ team and we look forward to growing with Volta in the future."
