HP said that VIVACOM Bulgaria, a telecommunications provider, has selected its offerings and expertise to build a next-gen intelligent network (NGIN) that can increase efficiency and deliver personalised experience for more than 600,000 prepaid and virtual private network customers.

VIVACOM provides an array of services in fixed and mobile voice, broadband data and television, and by selecting NGIN, which includes support for voice-over-Internet Protocol (VOIP)-based applications.

The HP NGIN offering integrates network and IT domains, and includes: Universal Signaling Platform for network integration; OpenCall Convergent Communication Platform for real-time execution; OpenCall Media Platform for rich media interaction; Convergent VPN (virtual private network); Virtual PBX (virtual private exchange); and BladeSystem servers running carrier-grade Linux.

In addition, HP has consolidated its different networks at the service layer, using the standards-based HP NGIN offering; with a single platform linking the network service layers in both core network and IT domains, VIVACOM can control all services – voice, data and messaging – in real time, and manage prepaid billing.

By selecting the NGIN, VIVACOM achieves: rapid rollout of new, integrated services across all networks; increased revenue generation by allowing the bundling of attractive, cross-network promotions for all users; and reduced operating costs.

HP communications and media solutions vice-president and general manager Erwan Menard said VIVACOM is able to offer Bulgarian customers innovative services with a consolidated network platform driven by HP NGIN.
