London based VITRUS Data Centres has announced it has formed a collaborative partnership with C5 Alliance that will give customers more flexibility when deciding how to manage their data.

Channel Island businesses will now have the opportunity to host their data wholly or partly in the UK, while still being able to benefit from on-island solutions.

Through Guernsey-based C5 Alliance’s data centres, users will have access to offshore hosting, with any migration of legacy data to either location also streamlined.

VIRTUS currently operates two certified data centres in London offering limitless bandwidth, up to six layers of security for clients and a very low PUE rating.

Marc Lainé, Managing Director at C5 Alliance, said: "We wanted to be in a position to address off-island hosting needs for clients and looked at a number of providers.

"We chose to partner with VIRTUS because of its unparalleled investment in technology. It’s an impressive operation with a highly efficient and secure offering.

"The partnership will allow both VIRTUS and C5 to expand their networks through cross-referrals and share ideas and information with a business that isn’t a direct competitor.

"We hope to continue to increase our offering to Channel Islands businesses through partnerships with other providers across the globe. We are pleased that we have been able to begin this process with such an outstanding provider in the centre of the UK’s primary business and digital hub."

Darren Watkins, Sales Director of VIRTUS Data Centres, said: "VIRTUS are very excited about this partnership and the potential it brings to both organisations and our respective customers.

"C5 Alliance is a leading provider of managed services and collocation for the Channel Islands and we are pleased to be working with them on these joint initiatives."
