UK-based entertainment and communications company Virgin Media has implemented Convergys’ ICOMS cable, broadband and satellite offering to track customer premises equipment, in both forward and backward logistics, from ICOMS.

The ICOMS offering drives operating efficiencies through an automated inventory creation process, resulting in the elimination of manual interventions, reduced IT support, and retirement of bespoke inventory movement applications.

The offering also enabled the automation of the collection, validation, transformation, and delivery of asset tracking files, further driving cost improvements.

With ICOMS and its central inventory database, Virgin Media can reduce its inventory stock and associated storage space and to recognise significant annualised savings from stock loss reductions.

Virgin Media executive director Maurice Daw said Convergys has played an important role in the transformation of its logistics operations, integrating twenty different systems and platforms into a single end-to-end offering that is already yielding significant improvements for Virgin Media and customers across the UK.

"Given our track record of working with them, we knew we could count on Convergys to work well as part of a close-knit virtual team on this project. Convergys has successfully delivered on a very complex and vital project," said Daw.

Convergys EMEA managing director Jonathan Smith said Convergys’ offerings are built to be both flexible and robust, enabling convergys clients to deliver on their goals for operational efficiency, cost optimisation, and customer service excellence.

"Convergys has supported Virgin Media’s supply chain transformation initiative since inception and our experienced development and implementation team has worked side-by-side with Virgin Media and its partners to make their vision a reality," said Smith.
