Wireless and wireline communications service providers Verizon, Vodafone and Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS), have signed a three-year technology agreement with HP to supply them industry standard servers.

Under the agreements, HP will provide HP ProLiant servers built on the latest Intel processors to the three communications service providers, enabling them to offer new services for their subscribers.

Verizon, Vodafone and MTS will use HP ProLiant servers to further standardise x86 server data-centre technologies at a group level, reduce costs and improve their total cost of ownership for servers.

The new partnership was a result of collaboration between the three companies with the goals of aligning on product standards and combining purchasing volumes into one single vendor.

HP will also provide its Converged Infrastructure applications for Verizon, Vodafone and MTS that range from thousands of servers and mission-critical systems to storage and cloud innovations.

The Converged Infrastructure applications include: HP CloudSystem ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen 8) servers,Virtual Connect, 3PAR Storage and ProLiant DL980 G7 servers .

HP CloudSystem is an integrated application for building and managing services across all cloud deployment models. With HP CloudSystem and supporting programmes, service providers can deploy a new cloud service in minutes or hours, reducing time to revenue.

ProLiant Gen 8 servers that feature HP ProActive Insight Architecture automates every aspect of the server life cycle to eliminate manual tasks that can cause downtime while providing continuous intelligence on server health, power usage and other diagnostics.

Virtual Connect automatically connects servers and virtual machines to any LAN or SAN without error-prone, repetitive tasks while 3PAR Storage supports multiple tenants and massive data consolidation onto a single array to deliver automatic storage provisioning required for virtual, cloud and IT-as-a-Service environments.

HP ProLiant DL980 G7 servers equipped with HP PREMA Architecture handles demanding data-intensive workloads by reducing system limitations, freeing up memory bandwidth and improving diagnostics.
