Urban Communications appoints new CEO

Urban Communications has appointed Murray Klippenstein as CEO of the company as well as its service provider subsidiaries, Urban Networks and Imagen Communications, effective April 21, 2008.

By CBR Staff Writer

Leslie Maerov, the company’s current CEO, will resign from his position but will retain the role of president. Clifford Bouillet will continue to serve as COO of Urban Communications and its subsidiaries.

Mr Klippenstein brings with him 30 years experience in executive positions in Canada and the US, predominantly in technology and satellite broadcasting industries. Formerly a vice-president of marketing and sales for American Express, he was also an original founder of Expressvu in Canada and served as founding president & CEO of AlphaStar Television Network. Most recently, he has led the Vancouver Practice of The Osborne Group, a management consulting and interim executive firm.

Mr Maerov said: We have laid the groundwork and are positioned to exploit our technological advantage in the market, and Murray is the right person to lead that charge. He has the experience, the credentials and, most importantly, the proven leadership success that will give all of our stakeholders the confidence that we are executing our plan.
