Sudlows has secured a contract of worth £2.25m to design and build a new data centre for the University of Portsmouth in the UK.

As part of the project the company will relocate the existing data centre facility at Mercantile House to a new modular facility on campus.

Unversity of Portsmouth

Sudlows global director, Andy Hirst, said the new facility will see the University benefit from a number of technical innovations that will deliver significant increases in energy efficiency.

It will also support the University’s plans for technological growth and the growing reliance on IT.

"Throughout the UK we are seeing major educational institutions, such as the University, looking to update their legacy data centres to benefit from energy efficiency and to provide students and staff with a significantly more resilient infrastructure" Andy said.

The company is expected to build a new building that will allow quick installation and provide the university sufficient capacity to expand current IT demands.
