Ubiquiti Networks has launched AirMax, a new disruptive global outdoor broadband wireless technology. The new technology enables outdoor TCP/IP speeds of 150+ Mbps and consists of radio hardware design, basestation MIMO antennas, and TDMA protocol.
According to Ubiquiti, the AirMax technology uses hardware accelerated TDMA protocol consisting of a smart polling coordinator with scheduling and native VOIP packet detection. The result is a network that scales hundreds of clients per basestation while maintaining enhanced throughput, and uninterrupted voice quality, the company claims.
The company also introduced MIMO antenna technology portfolio featuring cross-pol isolation, gain, electrical downtilt, and beam width characteristics found in cellular basestation antennas. The antennas have been designed and field tested to provide optimised throughput performance while using both the AirMax protocol and 2×2 MIMO radio AirMax hardware.
Ubiquiti has also released NanoStation M, the new version in the NanoStation series which is a 2×2 MIMO indoor/outdoor CPE capable of 150+ Mbps TCP/IP throughput and can link distances up to 15km. In addition, the company offers the Bullet M radio which can pair to any outdoor antenna to provide link distances beyond 30km and throughput above 100Mbps TCP/IP.
