Twitter rounds up the news with new Moments feature

News: The new feature will show trending stories on various topics.

By Vinod

Twitter has rolled out ‘Moments’, the first major feature introduced following Jack Dorsey’s appointment as permanent CEO of the micro blogging site.

Previously, the service was termed "Project Lightning" which shows content curated by a Twitter team and its partners including BuzzFeed and the New York Times.

The feature which is being rolled out to mobile users will include a lightning bolt tab that opens up a list of "Moments."

A Moment is a group of tweets that are stitched together around a specific topic which includes interactions between celebrities as well as the most shared news stories. It has been designed to help users find trending topics even if they do not follow the trend setters.

The feature will exist within a new tab inside the Twitter app, and users will be able to share them as links within tweets.

Apart from texts, it will include several photo and video tweets that are organised by categories including sports and entertainment.

Twitter was previously criticised for being a platform where it was difficult to find content, and with the new feature the company is reportedly trying to make the user experience better and easier.
