Texas releases octal-channel DAC family with internal reference

Extending its family of 12-, 14-, and 16-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) for industrial applications

By CBR Staff Writer

Texas Instruments released the DAC8568 (16-bit), DAC8168 (14-bit) and DAC7568 (12-bit) for data acquisition systems, industrial process controllers and instrumentation process control equipments. The DAC8568 is available at $13.20 and the DAC8168 and DAC7568 are available at $10.20 and $8.20 respectively. The new devices offer eight individual DAC channels. The eight channels of precision DACs would be available in small TSSOP-14 or TSSOP-16 packages. They double the accuracy of competitive devices and the family’s 2 ppm/degrees C internal reference saves space and cost over external references.  Furthermore, they are designed to achieve the widest operating temperature range of -40 degrees C to +/-125 degrees C and lowest output glitch well under 0.1nV-s that reduces undesired transients and noise and lessens harmonic distortion while generating waveforms. Besides, lowest power of 0.56 mW/channel reduces power budget and decreases needed board space as well.
