TalkTalk is cheating customers again: Ofcom

Investigation finds that telecom provider is signing up new customers without their knowledge

By CBR Staff Writer

UK’s telecom regulator Ofcom has said that its investigation has found that telecom provider TalkTalk is misleading potential customers.

Ofcom said, TalkTalk is "engaging in dishonest, misleading or deceptive conduct by providing misleading information that is likely to affect a customers purchasing decision."

The investigation by Ofcom also found TalkTalk has not complied with requirements around customers termination rights. Ofcom has accused TalkTalk of "slamming" — signing up new customers without their knowledge.

Ofcom has given TalkTalk a month to comply with the regulations.

Earlier this year an investigation by Ofcom had revealed that TalkTalk had over-billed customers for cancelled services. The telecom provider had to pay £2.5m in refunds to customers.
